Seville
Seville (Sevilla in Spanish) is the capitol of Andalucia and the one city you MUST visit. It is my favourite Spanish city and one I would happily live in. I have been there several times. Seville constantly appears in travel guides as the must see city in Europe.
This historic city with three UNESCO buildings, with year round sunshine, abundant cultural sites and entertainment, (Where Flamenco dancing originates from), delicious tapas and it's own distinct style is really everything you need and more.
Daytime average temperatures range from 16c in January to 38C in July/August. It rarely rains here! This makes it a great all year round destination. Agriculture, tourism, manufacturing of ceramics and other products are the main industries in this area.

Crime
Crime is low in Seville and violent crime almost unheard of. It even feels safe to walk around late at night. The safest areas are; Barrio Santa Cruz, Los Remedios, Centre, El Arenal and Macarena. The area to avoid is Los Pajaritos.
The main crime as in any tourist city is the risk of pick pockets in busy areas and on public transport. Don't accept flowers from strangers or they will want payment and also bicycle theft is quite high here. |
Food
Food in Seville is delicious and offers a wide variety of restaurants. Stewed meat called Carrillada de Cerda, Pork called Secreto Iberico and serranito, whisky sauce, spinach and chickpea tapas dips, a spanish style french toast called torrijas are all delicious. Their own version of gazpacho called Salmorejo is also amongst the most popular local dishes to try.
Here are some popular restaurants to try: Sibuya Urban Sushi- Japanese Alimentari E diversi - Italian Bar El Coso - Spanish MareaViva - Mediterranean Restaurante & Tapas El Sella - Spanish Bollywood Indian Restaurant - Indian Arabesca Restaurant - Lebanese SedeMexico Restaurant Mexicano - Mexican Spicy Soul Hot Pot - Chinese Al Wadi - Moroccan Ismorada Tapas Bar - Spanish fusion Empanadas Malvon - Argentinian |
Where to stay
The Old Town of course is the most popular, such as Centro, Santa Cruz and El Arenal, but will be more expensive. Alfalfa and Nervion (Not on football match days though) are also a good locations. If you want to stay outside the city, Carmona is a cheaper alternative if you have a hire car.
