Budva

We loved this large town, one of the oldest settlements along the Adriatic coast, set against a backdrop of mountains and sitting on crystal clear turquoise waters. It truly has everything! A stunning fortified medieval old town, beaches, and a modern town centre with a shopping mall and nightlife.
It has an airport called Tivat Airport nearby, which has seen it develop into the largest resort area in the country. I would certainly recommend staying in this town as it has so much more to do than other tourist areas, whilst still having the charm and beauty of the smaller resorts.

The weather
The weather in Budva ranges from around 5C in January to 33c in July. June and September are probably the best beach weather, with July and August being hot and busy. We went in March and it was windy, but very sunny and 18c.

Crime
Budhva is very safe for tourists, apart from the usual pickpockets in tourist areas. The crime rate is rising though as this large town is growing in population, almost 20,000 in 2023, but still very safe for it's size.
Where to stay
My advice would be near to the beaches where most of the shops and restaurants will be an easy walk. Further up the hills/mountains, you will have a better view, but a hike to get to the beach or restaurants.
